Melting
Parallel heats rather than a mill’s campaign, with the chemistry verified before anything is formed.
| Number of furnaces | 20, working in parallel |
| Smallest heat | 500 kg |
| Schedule | Heats run to order rather than as campaign lots |
| Verification | Chemistry checked and released before the first forming step |
| Development work | Sample and trial melts on request |
Running heats in parallel is what allows an order to be melted to the grade the buyer specifies instead of being taken off whatever the mill was already running. It is also why a composition outside the catalogue can be quoted rather than declined.
Traceability starts here
The heat number is set when the alloy is melted and follows the material through every forming, heat-treating and testing step. Nothing further downstream re-numbers it, which is why the certificate can carry the same number as the part.
