Quoting spring wire

What the coiler needs, rather than what a catalogue lists.

Spring wire is ordered for a machine, not for a shelf. The four things that cause a rejected coil are the wrong temper, the wrong cast, a coil the pay-off cannot unwind, and a tensile that was never stated. All four are settled before the order.

Wire sizeNominal diameter, plus the tolerance if the spring rate depends on it
TemperAnnealed for coil-then-age, or spring temper
Coil weightWhat the coiler can mount, in kilograms
Pay-offDirection and method, so the cast suits your machine
