Sizes and tolerances
Mesh count, wire diameter, open area and roll width — the four numbers that define a mesh.
| Parameter | Range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Mesh count | 20 – 400 per inch | 30 – 60 standard for electrode substrates |
| Wire diameter | 0.16 / 0.19 / 0.25 / 0.30 mm | ±0.003 mm, laser micrometer verified |
| Open area | 35 – 55% geometric | Depends on weave and wire diameter |
| Roll width | 1,000 mm standard | To 2,400 mm woven, 2,700 mm knitted, slitting available |
What the four numbers mean together
Mesh count alone does not define a mesh. The same count at two wire diameters gives different open area and different electrical resistance across the sheet, and the electrode design depends on both. Send the count and the open area, or the count and the wire diameter.
Woven against knitted
| Woven | Ordered aperture, flat sheet, predictable flow | Where the substrate is flat and the flow path is defined |
| Knitted | 85–98% volumetric porosity, elastic spring-back | Where the electrode is compressed in the stack |
